Mary Jo Sharp
AUTHOR, SPEAKER, APOLOGIST
Confident Christianity
A former atheist who found faith, Mary Jo Sharp, has navigated two distinct American cultures: the post-Christian ethos of the Pacific Northwest and the evangelical landscape of the Bible Belt. Her introduction to apologetics came during her personal quest for answers. Mary Jo is the founder and director of Confident Christianity Apologetics Ministry. She previously taught apologetics at Houston Christian University, where she was instrumental in establishing their apologetics program. Her insights have been showcased in Christianity Today's feature article "The Unexpected Defenders," and she is sought after internationally as a speaker on apologetics, with a particular emphasis on how apologetics intersects with spiritual formation.
She has authored works for the Lausanne Movement's Fourth International Congress on World Evangelism, as well as for Zondervan, Holman Bible Publishers, and Kregel Publications. Additionally, she has contributed to the Worldview Study Bible and the LifeWay Women’s Bible.
Mary Jo is the author of the widely popular Bible study "Why Do You Believe That?" with LifeWay Christian Resources. Her most recent book with Zondervan, "Why I Still Believe," reflects her dedication to clear communication and her passion for sharing profound truths about her faith journey.
Confident Christianity is a ministry driven by a deep compassion for addressing the challenging questions of faith through extensive research, compelling writing, empowering training, and compassionate conversations.
Portland, Oregon is where Mary Jo and her husband call home, surrounded by the city's eclectic charm and natural beauty.
